All Gas Appliances
Do not store flammable materials – mops, brooms, laundry, newspaper or any combustible material (paint, solvents, etc.), – near any gas appliance!
Water Heater
Make sure your water heater is securely anchored to a wall. This will help prevent the heater from shifting and possibly falling in an earthquake. Your gas water heater has a pilot light. Do not block access to or store flammable material or combustible materials – paints, solvents, gasoline in the same room as your water heater.
Gas Furnace
Your gas furnace should be serviced and furnace ducts checked once each year to help maximize its life and performance. The furnace has a hot surface ignition, not a standing pilot light. Follow the instructions in the owner’s manual, or call a qualified professional.
